On June 24, 2025 the bilingual students in grade 9 visited the International English Library in Düsseldorf. We learned that the library was established in 1946 by the British Forces after World War II.

Today, the library is a volunteer-run organization supported by many international sponsors.

The library has a collection of over 20000 English books, audiobooks, DVDs, newspapers, and magazines.

There are also events, such as book clubs, children’s storytime, video games, and events with international organisations. They even have a special Children’s Corner with books, DVDs, and graphic novels for younger readers.

Membership at the library costs €18, or €9 for students with a valid ID. To become a member or learn more, you can visit their website or scan the QR code on their brochure.

Overall, the trip was a great opportunity to practice our English and learn more about English-language resources in our region. Many of us are now interested in joining the library or visiting again with our families.
