Who of you does not know the British Queen and her motto duty first - self second or admires her for her many outstanding qualities and the enormous feat of having reigned for 70 years now?!
Her being the longest-ever-reigning monarch(a) and her Platinum Jubilee have inspired us in various ways. Since we cannot unfortunately join the parties or festivities all over Britain and in London we have decided to pay tribute to her in various ways.

Class 6c has written a letter to Her Majesty congratulating her on her Platinum Jubilee and is hoping to receive an answer before the start of the summer holidays.

Following in the footsteps of the vast numbers of bakers all over Britain who take part in agricultural shows or baking contests throughout the country the two Q1 Lks have decided to take part in a bake off in honour of Elizabeth II. Both Lks did her justice and paid tribute to the Queen and Britain with an astrounding number of entries/cakes. There were scrumptious scones with jam and butter, marvellously fruity muffins, a breathtaking brownie-raspberry-chocolate cake, a fantastically fruity tart all decorated in the colours of the Union Jack, a beautiful and very traditional Battenberg Cake sporting the Union Jack as well and last but not least a stunning two-tier cake that would have graced any wedding or formal celebration with its buttercream roses and pearl decorations.
Mrs. Kuchen-Jacobsen and Dr. Kippels were kind enough to step in as judges or jury members and their task was a really difficult one. It was hard to settle on a final list of winners since every single entry was absolutely delicious because the contestants had baked their hearts out obviously.

Congrats to all the winners and a huge THANK YOU to all contestants who sacrificed their weekends to come up with their entries!
