ELK Q1 proudly took part in the Juvenes Translatores competition, an annual translation contest organized by the European Commission. This prestigious event brings together secondary school students from across the European Union to celebrate linguistic diversity and showcase their translation skills.

The Juvenes Translatores competition was founded in 2007 and is run by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation. Each year, schools from all EU member states are randomly selected to participate. Eligible students, typically aged seventeen, are invited to translate a text between two official EU languages of their choice. The competition promotes multilingualism and intercultural understanding, encourages young people to explore the art and profession of translation, and highlights the importance of languages in building a united Europe.

ELK Q1 was honored to be among the selected schools for this year’s edition. Students from the school engaged enthusiastically in the translation challenge, applying their knowledge of foreign languages and their creativity to produce accurate and meaningful texts. Their participation gave them the opportunity to test their skills against peers across Europe, gain insight into the professional standards of translation, and find motivation to continue pursuing excellence in language learning.

The competition reflects the European Union’s commitment to cultural exchange and linguistic diversity. While only a handful of students across Europe are awarded prizes, every participant benefits from the opportunity to engage with languages in a meaningful way. ELK Q1’s involvement demonstrates the school’s dedication to preparing students for a globalized world.
