Lecture American Dream and US Elections

Last Tuesday on Nov. 7th, Mrs. Ortmayr´s English Lk engaged in a lecture on the American Dream and US Elections delivered by Ezra Mead from Oneida New York for the Amerika Haus Cologne.
The speaker commented on the concept of the American Dream and informed us about the most significant events in US American history.
We discussed whether the American Dream is still relevant today, analysing various cartoons that criticize the inequal allocation of opportunities, wealth etc. Eventually, we came to the conclusion that the "Easy Street" has its downsides, too.
Lastly we received an explanation of the complicated election processes in the United States.
All in all, it was an informative presentation. It was interesting to gain some insight into the American Dream from the perspective of a US native speaker.
