Nollywood Exkursion Filmmuseum Düsseldorf

As part of the English advanced course, I accompanied the students on an excursion to the Film Museum in Düsseldorf's Old Town. Since one of the main topics in the current curriculum is Nigeria, the visit focused on Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry.
During the workshop, we watched and discussed several excerpts from Nigerian films. The students gained insights into the themes, storytelling techniques, and cultural aspects presented in Nollywood productions. We also learned that Nollywood is one of the largest film industries in the world in terms of the number of films produced. Many films are created with relatively low budgets but address important social issues such as family, tradition, religion, corruption, and gender roles.
The excursion provided an engaging opportunity to connect classroom learning with authentic cultural material. It encouraged the students to reflect on different perspectives and deepened their understanding of Nigerian society and culture. Overall, the visit was both educational and motivating, making it a valuable addition to the work on the topic of Nigeria.
