Shakespeare as a dramatist on the basis of the Reclam Macbeth edition and film adaptations!
Boring! Shakespeare wrote his plays for a stage and not for schoolrooms...
That is why grade Q2 did some real acting under the guidance of Claire who ran this theatre workshop at our school in cooperation with English Speaking Theatre Düsseldorf.
After some warming up excercises the girls chose to either perform Act 1 Scene 1 and/or Scene three from the Scottish Play or to do some improvising based on Macbeth. (Cf. the pictures).
It was a new and necessary approach which reminded us once more that theatre becomes alive through the process of staging
and by just having fun and just acting (it) out.
